HEMPO

María Fernanda Segura and Yael Viridiana Lina

HEMPO is a device designed to help midwives in rural areas control postpartum haemorrhage, one of the main reasons for maternal mortality in Mexico. This device designed for easy implementation in areas away from hospitals helps to minimise the risk. While the patient is transferred to the nearest hospital, the balloon compresses the walls of the uterus and blood vessels efficiently, which makes HEMPO one more step to guarantee the safety of women in Mexico and reduce the rate of maternal mortality.

ME HACES FALTA

Abril Ortiz and Valeria Bustamante

Violence is the watershed in the protest. This project focuses on the positive connotation of a protest movement and focuses on the actions of the Protestant, not the ideal of struggle. ADLIB

Luis Alejandro Contreras

Starting with the premise of defining oneself as Non-Binary or gender fluid, accessories for daily and personal use were designed that can be used by any human being, eliminating gender elements. Taking as the main inspiration for this collection the chimaera or gynandromorph butterfly, which by its nature shares both male and female characteristics in the same organism, a collection of fashion accessories was created, which in addition to being useful in a daily context, allow a "transformation" to the wearer, giving them a choice to show some wings present in each accessory or not, as a metaphor for the concept of gender fluid.

ADLIB seeks to support the opening of the concept of what we now perceive as "gender", this in a harmonious way in which we can all participate. instagram / tumblr

LA FORMA SIGUE AL TABÚ

José Carlos Muñoz

The form follows the Taboo is a design methodology that is inspired by how the practice of cultural appropriation is a factor that shapes contemporary culture, based on the premise that nothing in Design is unique or original. This discursive project starts from the logic that if culture is an abstraction, abstractions cannot possess anything; therefore there is no such thing as the property of an interpretation since everyone in one way or another can perceive it. The form follows the Taboo, and provides; as a result to illustrate this freedom and evolutionary capacity that culture possesses through a collection of 3d printed vases inspired by dominant and dominated cultures, resulting in a culturally sterile collection of objects.
