DREAMS OF LIGHTNESS - BASE MILANO

dreams of lightness (CeM-ccm)

PROFESSOR: MIGUEL ARJONA

COLLECTION EXHIBITED AT BASE MILANO

Maintaining coherence with the environment and social context in which students operate, the project seeks to generate proposals that reflect and offer responses or reflections on a theme with which they deeply identify. This semester, the focus is on exploring the challenges and difficulties faced by creative individuals in Latin America.

These challenges arise from limited opportunities for growth and global recognition in geographically distant spaces, times, and forums. Issues such as high transportation costs, economic disparities with the European context, and lack of support from local entities have led designers and creatives to take measures that over-optimize the experience of presenting their work at events like Design Week.

Ausente

Ana Llanderal, Dulce González and Melissa Zamudio

With a recollection of cards containing each project’s information, as well as portraits of their creators, Absent shines a light on the designers behind the pieces hereby exhibited.

Despite the presence each of us brings to the items conceived for the present exhibition, our assistance at the event is never guaranteed nor facilitated. Thus, absence arises as a refusal to letting our voices, faces and names get lost amidst a sea of distance and cost.
