URBAN TRADES: REVOLUTIONS

The project “Urban Trades” aims to investigate the origins and contexts of semi-industrial manufacturing techniques that we can find within Mexican cities, as well as their relevance in our daily lives. From the exploration and familiarization with the process of metal spinning, “Revoluciones” was designed, a collection of decorative and functional objects made out of copper, brass and aluminum.

Each team collaborated with different artisan workshops, to research on the process, and to develop the pieces from the production molds, to their complementary components. In this way, the project is characterized by its exploration of a diversity of materials, techniques and finishes, and the acquisition of knowledge through practical experiences and the establishment of professional relationships with the producers.
